Meet the Players!
The Blogette - She's back with new hair, a new ear (that's another story) and new energy for a new season. She is looking forward to "real" football weather so she can drop her recent ice cream binges, and recently dropped Teddy (the family cat) as her picks manager. Sara wins week 5 and picks up her third win in Pigskin Picks. Mid-way through Pigskin Picks, Sara shares the lead with Brian Anderson with 93 points. Her Ball State Cardinals are having a great season (going bowling) and making her proud, however her Pigskin picks the last 3 weeks are driving her crazy. Last 3 weeks going 6 and 6 is not good, I need number for Picking School !!! TURKEY SCHOOL - no picking school !!

Josh Scott - This recent winner of the Masters Mix 2013 hails from Rock Hill, where he is "The" Tax Man. In the off-season, he can be found tending bar at The Tin Roof in Gamecock Country, not far from the stadium. Josh is hanging around and waiting to make his move, and no doubt will be near the top soon. Week 9 not a bad week, however he did drop down a spot, and now is sitting at number 12 on the Natty Light Leaderboard. Stop in the Tin Roof and get yourself a cold Natty and say hello to the boys-Justin and Josh. Josh had a good week 12 and Tied for first in Div. 2 landing him 5
bonus points. Looking for extra bonus points. TURKEY Jost getting a lot of love at the Tin Roof with his picks

John "The Meat Man" Gunter - We have the returning 2013 Bowl Champion picker, which was the first contest he has ever won. He is proud to say he was the "Champion" of anything! He lives in Columbia and keeps cool in the meat department at Sparkleberry Square Kroger. John is in solo fifth spot after 11 weeks and likes where he sits in the standings. John is making his move up the leaderboard, and it's obvious that he's been spending his break time with the sports page. Kroger folks (Krissy and Chris) not happy with John as he moved right on past them in the chase for the Kroger title. Great week for John as he goes 9 and 3, moves up to T-3 on the leaderboard AND still leads the Kroger bunch !!! HAM AND TURKEY

Steve Price - Former Masters Mix 2012 winner, Mr. Price is Right, operates Sundance Motors in West Columbia. He can help you get outta town quickly in a new ride if you have made some embarrasing picks in any given week. Steve trails the leader by 11 points and finds himself in fouth place after 8 weeks. Look out here he comes, this veteran Picker on the blog, always seems to find his way to the top of the leaderboard. Big week for Steve going 9-3. Teaming with Kiel in the Trick or Treat contest this week, did not work out so well as they finished with just 14 points and six behind the winners. Steve in fifth place and hoping he can get that perfect score this week. Little more spending money this week after getting in Kiel's pocket last week (haha) We hear they are making the bet double this week and Kiel called in help from Vegas..we won't tell Steve !!!!! Well as far as who is making money between Steve and Kiel, word has it Kiel made a little cash this week. TURKEY

Mike Murphy - This former Richmond (IN) Red Devil now lives in Greenwood, a suburb of Indianapolis. He is retired from a career in selling wire and cable, and now spends his time grandparenting, playing golf, watching ESPN and catching a few zzzz's. Not a bad life, Big Dude!
Just what will IU do this weekend? Can the Hoosiers snap their 3 game losing streak against the Fighting Illini? I have a feeling the easygoing Murph will come out a winner either way, as he is inching his way up our leaderboard, up one spot to #14 this week. Mike had a so so week going 7 and 5 and trails Wes by just 4 points in the tight Division 3 group. The Big Dude says...Turkey, Ham and Budlight dressing.. Jason Rader - This Indiana University grad makes up half of Team Who-Dey, along with soccer player Logan Beckman. These two are ready to rise to the top of the pile with their picks this season. They spend all day Monday trying to uncross their eyes from watching all 8 screens of NFL action on DirectTV. It sure is easier when the Bengals win. We understand Logan decided it was his turn to make the picks for week four, and what great picks he made .(10-1) Nice job Logan and hope you get to make the picks for week 9. Team Who-Dey happy with the Bengals and ready for HALLOWEEN, that is Logan and all the candy he will be getting !!!! This team is T-6 in the standings and looking for a good score this week....Great big week for Team Who-Dey, first the Bengals beat the Browns, then this team picks 10 winners and just 2 who had a bad Saturday. Jim "Brother Love" Beckman - Oh to be a Buckeye, now that fall is here! Jim loves nothing more than that OSU team, unless it is eating doughnuts for breakfast every morning, or hanging out at the 19th hole after a round of golf, or his lovely wife Rhonda. The guy has it pretty good! Well folks, Ohio St will be visiting Purdue this week and we are sure he will watching with his bride Rhonda...
Looks like Ohio St will cruise this season and go without a loss for the second season under Urban Meyer. Brother was too busy golfing over the weekend to watch the Bucs blister the Boilers. Lucky for him, he taped the game so he could savor every point! Moving on up with a good week last week!!Not a good week for brother love but another great week for his Buckeyes !!! Jim had quite a week- starts out 0 and 6 after the first 6 games were played, then he finishes strong going 6 and 0 the last 6 games played Saturday So far nobody has gone 0 and 12 this year...quite a comeback Jim !!

Jamie Mabe - This Clemson grad has always been a loyal supporter of The Blog. He continues to work at Golden Hills CC, and now also working at the Chicken plant He is possibly the fastest talker with a southern accent that we have ever met, but he usually speaks the truth when he is talking sports and definitely is the go-to resource for all things Wolfpack. Jamie is now in third place in Pigskin Picks trailing Brian by 11 points. Another year older and can't remember to get his picks in on time. Oh Dog !!!!! Ball State going down Sara !!! Yep, and your Wolfpack B Ball team might not
win a game this year Jamie !!!!!! Looks like B Ball team just as bad as the football team...Jamie woke

Mike Evans - Mike is the general manager at Pearlz in the Vista and made a nice showing in the Columbia City Amateur, representing Spring Valley CC. This transplanted Miami, OH grad is now a Big Time Gamecock fan. Good looking Nike shirt would look good on you at Pearlz, or the SEC clock would dress up your office- Mike seems to go for the underdog and just maybe he can score big this week !!!!
Well The Cellar Dweller did improve going 7 and 5 in week 8, however he predicted 9-3 and was sure he would move up the board. His prediction came true in week 9, going 9-3 and having his best week this season. Mike picked up 19 points and goes from 18 all the way up to T-10 on the Natty Light Leaderboard.( More study time helped this young man) Well folks this could be the hottest picker playing after week 13, just like in golf, get the putter going and lookout. Good week 9 and ready to make his move.. Justin taking this contest a little more serious now and thinks it is time for a perfect week. At this time he is spending time with the garbage man from Florida (Bob Abney) in spot number 17 on the leaderboard. Movin on up after another 8-4 week, now overall holding down spot 13 on the leaderboard and in second place in Division 2. He spends his spare time online, studying golf videos, sports reports and the occasional dirty joke. Garbage man taking himself for a nice trip to Florida and looking for a condo this week. I guess he is thinking more about winters in Indiana than he is Pigskin Picks. Well the garbage man has left Indiana and now living back in the sunshine state. Bob boy made his picks this morning while sitting at the pool and checking out all the young ladies. Bob had a good week 9 and is hoping for that perfect score this week so he can move up the leaderboard. At this time Bob is T-17 and really needs some luck. He has dedicated himself to working smarter, not harder when making his selections. He is a fantastic resource for automotive knowledge and does an outstanding job as service manager of Mastercraft Auto Northeast. Best start for Brian playing contests on the Blog. Week 9 was moving week for Brian when he jumped into a tie with the Blogette. Week 10 was even better as he took over the top spot alone. Will he continue to run away from the pack? Better get your track shoes on, Brian - everybody's after YOU! Brian just crusing along in first place, having a cocktail and enjoying life. Can anybody catch this guy ???? TURKEY MAN

Kiel Ott - He's baa-ack! After a bit of a siesta....or was it fiesta?...Kiel is back in the game. That's okay by us since he is a big-time Irish fan. He has been on the lookout for the best hat in Columbia. Call him if you've seen a well-worn black baseball hat with an embossed ND on the front (see photo below). If the Irish have a bad season, the missing rally cap might be the reason and Kiel will have to live with that burden. He has a lot of work to do if he is going to catch up with the "top" of the field. If you know the where-abouts of the hat, please return it to him at Carolina Ale House most any Friday or Saturday night....no questions asked !!! No hat turned in yet....Kiel proud of his 33-27 record .......sitting at 19 on the leaderboard and ready to make his move. Kiel is so sure of his picks this week, word has it he is taking bets($ per game) "I'm ready baby for some action"- 6-6 week cost this guy a little dough, plans on getting some back this week in side bet action. Krissy Moneghan - A native of Los Banos, California, Krissy graduated from "the other" USC in Columbia. She is working her way up the ladder at Kroger stores, while pursuing other options in modeling. Her dream is to make it big as an actress. She recently went to New York City to explore big city life and possible acting schools. How happy is Krissy after week 5 ? All smiles not only because she had a perfect score ( 11-0 ) in week 3, but because she is still kicking tail and beating the Kroger boys. GO KRISSY !!!! All smiles because of Clemson going down, sticking with USC this week and very upset Chris (her boss ) has beat her the last 3 weeks !!! Word has it Krissy headed to LA in January-her dream is getting closer....Just what the Blog needs-famous actress playing Pigskin Picks !!! He finally landed in Elgin, SC and has been the meat manager at the Sparkleberry Kroger for a number of years. In his "spare" time, he is returning to college to earn a computer-related degree.
A little competition going on at the Kroger store out in Northeast Columbia. Chris claims his first win playing in any contest on the blog ,week 6 with a nice 10-2 record. When presenting Chris with his first place prize ,(SEC clock) really, was the first word out. Yep, and you beat Krissy and John...a big smile and I could tell he was happy just to beat them for the first time this year. Ernie Timmerman - An excellent golfer from the Augusta area, Ernie travels and plays in a lot of tournaments. He is a fine competitor as you can see by the hardware he is displaying as a result of his recent championship flight win at the GolfWeek Amateur Tour event in Atlanta. He also won a skin that day - not too shabby! We are certainly glad to have him participating in his first blog contest. Had a chance to play with Ernie in a tournament Saturday and along the way found out not only is a real good player but........Ernie caddied at Augusta National, home of the Masters for twenty years. It was so cool hearing about all the great stories and big name people he has caddied for. Of course my first question was about pay. Ernie said he had the bag for John Elway who was playing with Lou Holtz and Spurrier that day and he made $150 starting out and Elway gave him $200 tip....my golfing friends I think you would enjoy playing golf with Ernie and perhaps he just might have a few more stories to share! Another good week for Ernie as he posted 8 and 4 record good for tie for second place. Ernie tied for second the last two weeks and this past week of action, he got his first win !!! With the overall win and also winning the Twist partner contest, Ernie picked up 26 points and jumped all the way up to fourth place and trails the leaders by 6 points. No question this gentleman from Augusta is on a roll and headed for the lead. While Wes lives in Georgia, he has a big time watching his Clemson Tigers !!! Old timer had a bad week 5 and lost ground in the standings. Damn this is a strong field, can I move down a flight!!!!!! Please Sara, take it easy on us...Time for a six pack of Natty Light....Indiana Basketball just around the corner.....Nice week Wes, trying to move you down a flight but Blogette says nope, he dug his own hole, tell him to call big dude and watch basketball. Come on Wes, make some good picks this week and quiet all the hecklers down.....Tied for 15 on the leaderboard after 9 weeks and trying hard (just like golf) to move up, Wes still finds this contest hard.
