We are pleased to announce that Charlotte sports grill, Jocks and Jills, has joined the blog as a sponsor. General Manager John "JJ" Jackson was enthusiastic when hearing about The Invitational from the first moment, and plans to enter a team in the 2012 tournament. He is pictured above at left along with Eric, a ten-year staff member at that location.  The Director and The Blogette have been patrons of this fun sports bar since 1997.  At Jocks and Jills, the philosophy is simple: create a distinctive "all sports" atmosphere where great food and unsurpassed service provide patrons with a truly unique and enjoyable dining experience.  We have found that they certainly hit that mark every time we have been there.  The restaurant is furnished with polished wood and exposed brick, and offers a more upscale atmosphere than your typical sports bar.  Each location features an impressive collection of sports memorabilia, along with many, MANY big screens featuring any and all sports action occurring on any given day.  The menu offers traditional fan favorites like juicy half pound burgers, "fall off the bone" baby back ribs, and the best chicken wings this side of Buffalo.  After your meal, you can take a walk around the restaurant and be taken back to your first game, your favorite team's big win, or a great moment in sports history.  When we are in Charlotte, you can bet we will stop in, and we encourage you to try them out at 4109 South Stream Blvd.  You can view their menu and check out Georgia locations here: http://www.jocksandjills.com/

Special Olympics is a cause that is at the heart of The Invitational Tournament. We wanted to share some information about our charitable cause. Did you know 21,400 athletes in our state train and compete in 23 different sports? Did you know more than 12,000 event volunteers lend a hand each year to make over 300 competitions happen in South Carolina? Special Olympics impacts a lot of athletes, not just for one day, one competetion, one season of training, but for life. We encourage you to be a fan of Special Olympics too. Be a fan of advancement opportunities that make it possible for South Carolina athletes to compete locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally. Be a fan of the following programs:
Project Unify - offering sports and social activities within schools in our state.
Unified Sports - offering athletes opportunities to partner with non-Special Olympics athletes for training and competition.
Athlete Leadership Programs - offering athletes opportunities for leadership roles as board and committee members, volunteers, coaches, and officials.
Healthy Athletes Programs - offering screenings and services by health professionals to athletes at each State Game.
Motor Activities Program - offering opportunities for athletes with sever motor impairment to meet challenges.
Young Athlete Program - offering sports programs to athletes under 8 years of age.

Be a fan of being involved. Find out how at http://www.so-sc.org/.
